Deltic owns 530,000 acres of timberland in Arkansas and north Louisiana, stocked primarily with Southern Pine. The land consists of 124,500 acres of pine forests and 340,000 acres of pine plantations, with the remainder consisting of hardwood and non-forested land. The pine forests contain the majority of the Company's 12.9 million tons of pine sawtimber inventory and are managed

on an all-aged basis. The pine plantations are generally less than 25 years old, with the majority ranging in age from 10 to 20 years. Deltic manages its timberland on a sustainable basis. Sawtimber is selectively harvested and processed in the Company's sawmills or sold to third parties. Deltic operates a seed orchard to develop genetically-improved Loblolly Pine seedlings and insure the availability of adequate quantities of seedlings for reforestation.
